Pirates RPG Coming This Summer

According to icv2, Pinnacle Entertainment will be releasing their roleplaing game Pirates of the Spanish Main in July or August of this year.

The game is based on the WizKids trading card.. er.. miniature game of the same name and uses the Savage Worlds roleplaying system.

Although I haven't yet had an opportunity to play it, the Savage Worlds system LOOKS really fun. I picked up a copy last year and I've been dying to try it. This might be the excuse I need. I like me some pirate roleplaying.

Their also planning to release Death on the High Seas - a scenario book for Pirates of the Spanish main (the original game, not the RPG). It features new deployment instructions, alternate rules, and victory conditions. A short fictional preface introduces each of the 40 scenarios in the 96-page full color trade paperback, and secret "Special Events" mean that games are different every time. That sounds pretty darned cool too.
