Free RPG Day - June 23rd!

On Saturday, June 23rd we're going to be giving away Free Roleplaying Game products. It'll be like having Christmas in the summer!

The idea was inspired by Free Comic Day... which is something that the comic stores have been doing for a few years now. Publishers will be creating product especially for this particular day for us and other game stores to be giving away.

Additionally, we plan on running some in-store roleplaying events that day so that you can really get your game on.

So be sure to stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

Warhammer Fantasy/40k Weekend - June 16-17

June is working out to be a busy, busy month for gaming.

Although we don't yet have all of the details, we're planning to do a two-day event on the weekend of June 16th and 17th. One day will be a large Warhammer Fantasy battle, the other a large Warhammer 40K battle. The idea is to have a massive "good vs evil" match-up with a large number of players duking it out over the tabletop battlefield.

We should have more details about this event next week but we wanted you to start planning to come by the store that weekend now.

Golden Gobber Tournament - June 2nd

Mixed Warmachine and Hordes Tournament, June 2nd

350 points...yes thats right 350. We'd like to see more people get a chance to play and I know some people still have only small collections and thus can't participate in most of our larger tournaments. So this is your chance to join up!

Free to play!

First Prize is the Magnificent GOLDEN GOBBER trophy. He who 'owns' the trophy (in actuality it stays in the store) may use either a Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew or Reinholdt for FREE in friendly in-store games (Sorry, not allowed in league or other tournament games).

Other possible prizes not yet confirmed.

So, COME ONE, COME ALL!

Miniature Painting Night - Tonight at 6pm

This is just a quick reminder that tonight is the first monthly Miniature Painting Night that we'll be holding at the store. The official start time is 6pm but you can come in earlier if you like.

Bring your paints, brushes, miniatures and your questions. We'll be there to help those who need it or to just inspire each other if you aren't looking for help.

Hey, if you have a lamp that you like to work with, bring that too. Lighting isn't universally good in that back gaming area so any additional light sources might be helpful.

I'm going to have the new Foundation Paint line on hand for everybody to try. My most recent experiments with them have been very positive. I'm actually thinking of writing up a formal review once I've had more experience with them.

See you tonight!

All About Antike - On Board Games with Scott

If you've never seen an episode of Board Games with Scott then you're missing out on some great low-budget, just-as-good-as-public-access fun.

Scott has about 40 episodes now and rather than just reviewing a game he really digs into how to play them and what's cool about them. This episode is about Antike. I've had a chance to play this one and know how good it is, but he can explain it better than I possibly could. Sit back and for the next 24 minutes you'll find out everything that you ever wanted to know about Antike:

Miniature Painting Night is Back!

After a more than year-long hiatus, Miniature Painting Night is Back!

I've been telling myself since I got back that I really wanted to do this but putting off setting a date for some reason. Well, you can thank Andy Easton for getting me to make up my mind and schedule it.

The next Miniature Painting Night will be on Monday, May 14 starting at 6:00pm. Feel free to come in early and pull up some table space if you like.

Why come? Because sometimes you need a good excuse to paint. Because painting in a group can be a lot of fun. Because Andy and I will be there to help out.

Andy is a pretty amazing modeler. He does conversions all the time and can help you learn the proper way to pin a model, use putty, and turn you model into something different.

I've been painting since AD&D was still in the early infancy of its first edition.
I managed to turn my interest in miniature painting into a very short career. I even won a couple of Golden Demon awards back in the day. You need help with painting? I might be able to help.

It's looking like this is going to be a monthly event (I can't commit any more time than that) so look forward to spending one night in the middle of each month hanging out at the store and painting some minis!
