In case you didn't get our latest flyer (and if you didn't be sure to get yourself on the mailing list next time you're in the store) this Saturday, January 14th at Noon will be the next installment of our continuin series of game auctions.

The rules are pretty simple:

If you want to sell something in the auction bring it into the store and fill out a simple form to get your item in the auction. Not all items will be accepted. We tend to cut off anything that we're getting too many of or anything that has shown a pattern in the past of not selling. We don't want to waste anybody's time by having a lot of dead items. During the auction the auction staff will sell your items. At the end of the auction you will receive a gift card containing the FULL SALE PRICE of the items that you sold (the gift card part is a new addition). Please avoid brining your items in on the day of the auction if you can help it. That day is crazy enough without having to spend all morning checking in new lots.

If you're just looking to buy come on in Saturday before Noon to get a sneak peek at the auction lots. We generally have a full cross-section of gaming goodness. You'll find board games, RPGs, miniatures, magazines, card games, the occasional videogame, and other fun stuff. This is definitely a buyers market. You can expect to find some great deals on gaming items new and old.

The auction usually runs about 3-4 hours and is a LOT of fun. Even if you aren't planning to buy you may still want to come over and check it out. The auctioneers and the crowd are both very entertaining. It's also a good time to meet new people as the auction tends to be one of our single biggest events with people from a variety of backgrounds and interests.

We'll see you there!

In 1998 Jay started "Tangents" which was an online business that primarily sold decals to Science Fiction modelers. In 1999 that business moved from California to Massachusetts where it eventually became a part of the greater Griffon Games game store. Next week the decals portion of the business will be moving with Jay back to California.

Jay recently took at job in Los Angeles and will be back there for the forseeable future. In order to make sure that the decal business maintains its focus and quality Jay will be bringing that part of Griffon Games with him. This means that he'll be able to focus on the decals more completely making sure that the orders are filled quickly and that questions are answered promptly. The business itself will remain an important part of the overall business that is Griffon Games though it will be happening from the other side of the country.

We're also looking to expand upon the experiment that we started a couple of years ago. Look for the Pro Series decal line to grow into something new and exciting. We're also going to be looking to get permisson from a variety of publishers to produce official decals for some of your favorite games.

What this means for the short term is that decal orders sent in after today won't be processed until roughly January 9th as Jay carts the entire decal production facility across country.

Privateer Press has finally added the quickstart rules to their Hordes web page. Now you can try out their newest game which will be arriving in-store some time early next year.

You'll also be able to download the card for the various factions.

Download and print the rules, get some proxy minis ready, and start trying out the game in the store. We're very interested in seeing how it plays.

What happens when you combine the art for the strangely non-entertaining comic strip Family Circus with text from various Lovecraft classics? You get Cthulhu Circus - a FAR more entertaining comic.
