Decals - The revival

I don't know how many of you know this, but the decal printing part of the game store business actually pre-dates the game store by about three years.

I started the decal business as an independent online store called "Tangents" in (roughly) 1996/97. At the time I had picked up an ALPS printer to do some personal modeling projects and started selling some of my creations on the side to interested modelers. That line of decals grew to include decals aimed at the 40K gamer (which quickly became the most popular part of our selection) as well as small-run model kits from garage outfits and even the distribution of hobby magazines. Which all led, eventually, to Griffon Games (now Greenfield Games).

I was thinking about that history again today because the decal business is about to take another step forward.

Today I confirmed our first reorder of the original "Pro Series" decal set. That's the Black Cross set that you see above. This is a professionally screen-printed decal set printed by Microscale Industries. Shortly thereafter we're going to be bringing back a number of our most popular designs in this screen-printed format.

The new decals are going to be a better quality product than we've ever offered before. Hopefully we'll be able to bring the line back to the same quantity of designs that we had before, but that may take some time. In any case, I'm really excited to see things moving forward again. When the ALPS supplies dwindled to the point that we couldn't really afford to continue with the old line I was afraid that it was signaling the end of the decals. As it turns out, it was only the beginning.

BTW - We're still selling the final bits of the old stock of decals. Not everything is up in the store yet, but we're working on it. Once these are gone, they are gone and there's no guarantee as to how long it's going to take to bring back any of the specific designs in these sets so if you want them I recommend not waiting to pick them up.

Old (online) store dead, new (online) store lives!

The old online store is gone. It went offline sometime today.

Fortunately, the new online store got up and running earlier this week. It's still going to take us a while to put up all of the things we have planned to have on their. On the other hand, we already have some of our more popular decal sets and our most popular roleplaying game - Dogs in the Vineyard.

We plan to have more decals up asap. Give us time. If you have a particular decal that you just have to have now you can always give us a call at the number above and order it by phone.

Decal Delays

This is just a quick heads-up for those of you thinking about ordering decals.

Our decal production facility is moving back to it's original home in Massachusetts (if you don't count the fact that it actually started life in California about 8 years ago). This means that if you didn't have an order in by 2/26 you'll have to wait about two-three weeks for your order to get processed. If you did have your order in by 2/26 then you have no cause for concern. Your order has been processed.

I apologize for the delays that the decals have gone through over the past year and a half. The fact that we're moving the operation back to the store in Massachusetts means that it won't get delayed by moves anymore. Mechanical problems, holidays, really nice springs days... that's another matter.
