Painting Night Becomes Painting Day - and Weekly!

Our monthly Painting Night just wasn't doing it for me. It wasn't often enough and if I couldn't do it one night then we lost an entire month. With this in mind - and the fact that the miniature painting contest went so well and was so well attended - we've decided to move Painting Night to Sunday and to make it weekly

That means that, starting this week, you can come in on Sunday and paint at 11am (the plan is to open up an hour early for painters most weeks). Officially we're going to run it until 1:00pm which is when most gaming starts on Sunday but as long as there's still space you can keep painting all day.

I'm hoping that this ends up working out better and drawing in more people.

The Event Calendar

Hey, we've got a spiffy new event calendar so that you can more easily tell what the heck it is going on at the store. We're even going to try to keep it up to date! Have a look:

Auction - This Saturday at Noon!

The Greenfield Games in-store Auction will be taking place THIS WEEKEND! This means that you want to bring in your auction items during the week if at all possible. We will have little time to enter in new items on Saturday morning so we can't guarantee that if you bring something in that day that it will make it into the auction.

We've already started a Google Doc that lists the items in the auction. Expect it to grow a LOT over the course of the week. It only gives you a brief description of the items in the auction. If you want to know more just come in and have a look. As usual we'll have all of the items out on the table on Saturday morning for you to look at prior to the auction.

Game Auction - January 26 at Noon

It's that time again!

If you want to sell something in the auction bring it into the store and fill out a simple form to get your item in the auction. Not all items will be accepted. We tend to cut off anything that we're getting too many of or anything that has shown a pattern in the past of not selling. We don't want to waste anybody's time by having a lot of dead items. During the auction the auction staff will sell your items. At the end of the auction you will receive a gift card containing the FULL SALE PRICE of the items that you sold . Please avoid brining your items in on the day of the auction if you can help it. That day is crazy enough without having to spend all morning checking in new lots.

If you're just looking to buy come on in before the auction (either on the day or earlier) to get a sneak peek at the auction lots. We generally have a full cross-section of gaming goodness. You'll find board games, RPGs, miniatures, magazines, card games, the occasional videogame, and other fun stuff. This is definitely a buyers market. You can expect to find some great deals on gaming items new and old.

The auction usually runs about 3-4 hours and is a LOT of fun. Even if you aren't planning to buy you may still want to come over and check it out. The auctioneers and the crowd are both very entertaining. It's also a good time to meet new people as the auction tends to be one of our single biggest events with people from a variety of backgrounds and interests.

An Amazing Party!

I'd like to give a special shout-out to Antonio's Pizza that supplied the four ginormous pizzas that we all devoured like starving hyenas and to Cafe Koko for providing the coffee to wash it all down with.

7th Anniversay Party - Thursday at 6pm

It's that time of year again!

That's right, Greenfield Games has turned another year older and we're going to celebrate.

On Thursday evening at 6pm we'll be running game demos and serving refreshments and generally being pleased with our customers and ourselves for keeping the store going for another year.

If you've been into the store recently then you already know that we've been offering tickets for a drawing for each $25 purchase. Each ticket gets you one chance to win one of our great prizes at the party. There's still a couple of days to get in on this part of the fun. Stop by the store today and make a $25 or greater purchase to get a ticket, then bring that ticket back on Thursday night.

Worldwide D&D Gameday- November 3rd

November is turning into a busy month and we haven't yet finished with October!

On Saturday, November 3rd we'll be hosting a number of gaming events in honor of the official Worldwide D&D Game Day.

Details are forthcoming but it's looking like early in the day Seth will be running more X-Crawl (which everybody loved so much on RPG Day) then running the official D&D adventure in the evening.

Apocalypse Mega-Battle November 12th

Veterans Day is coming up and many of you have the day off from school. So what are you going to do? I'll TELL you what you're going to do. You're going to come to the store bright and early with your 40K army and get involved in a mind-boggling mega-battle of epic proportions.

Tim's going to be opening the store up early so that you can set up and get going.

There's a sign-up sheet in the store or you could just let everybody know in the forum that you're going to be there.

'Ard Boyz Tournament Prizes...

If you were thinking "I don't know if I should enter the 'Ard Boyz Tournament" then think again! The top three winners will all be getting some nice prizes for taking part. First place will be getting a Battleforce boxed set of their choice! 2nd place can choose from amongst the smaller boxed sets (infantry units, etc.), and third place can pick something from the blister packs.

With Apocalypse coming out the addition of a new Battleforce can really help bump up the point value of your army.

(Every) Monday is Painting Night (in September)

I guess we really should just call it Painting Day because you could come in whenever you wanted and paint... but I suppose since the point of it is to keep the store open for painters to work after hours we'll stick with the current name.

Oh, and we're going to be doing Painting Night for the next three weeks in September. We would have started on the third but we were closed for Labor Day. If the weekly thing works out we may make it a regular event.

Keep in mind that we have a big 40K tournament coming up (see below) so you may want to use this time to work on things that you want to bring to the event (but since painting doesn't count in the tournament, you don't really HAVE to paint... you could just use the time to assemble your forces and bring your points up to 2500).
